About me
The Special Services Department at ESD 105 encompasses a broad spectrum of resources aimed at enhancing the educational experiences of students with disabilities. This includes critical services such as Occupational Therapy, which offers both direct and related support; Speech Services that tackle communication challenges; Vision Services designed for students with visual impairments; and targeted assistance for individuals with Autism.
A central component of our department is the LINK program, a dynamic transition service for students aged 18-21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. LINK emphasizes skill-building in vital areas such as employment, community engagement, college access, and leisure activities, promoting independence and smoother transitions into adult life.
Further augmenting our transition services, the Pre-Employment program collaborates directly with districts to support students aged 16-21. This initiative focuses on preparing these individuals for the workforce by providing them with the necessary skills and experiences to succeed in employment settings, ensuring a more comprehensive support framework during their critical transition years.
Additionally, the department supports inclusive educational practices through ongoing coaching and professional development, aimed at equipping educators with effective strategies to meet diverse learning needs. The Pathways Behavior Outreach Team (PBOT) is another integral part of our department, offering specialized behavior services that help in creating positive educational environments and improving student behavior outcomes.
These programs collectively reflect ESD 105's commitment to fostering educational accessibility and success for all students, ensuring comprehensive support and development that cater to their unique needs and potential.
